Tucker Carlson Captures the Imagination of the Canadian Right-Wing
An Airing of Grievances to Spread MAGA to the North
Tucker Carlson took his Sworn Enemy Tour to Canada this week where he hosted a live interview with Danielle Smith, the Premier of Alberta. The sold-out event in Calgary drew many Canadians sympathetic to the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) Right-Wing Populist movement to hear Carlson’s analysis of the North.
Carlson is without a doubt of the most influential voices on the American Right-Wing to this day. The former lead Fox News anchor was for a time the most-watched broadcaster on television. During his tenure he was known for speaking his mind as freely as was permitted up to that point, crossing many lines, such as being critical of the Proxy War in Ukraine and its diversion of American resources. It is important to note that he is still a supporter of US imperialism, upholding the Monroe Doctrine, but disagrees on other areas of geopolitical strategy with the Liberal Establishment. He was let go from Fox News in 2023, but Carlson has since resumed his broadcasting finding a platform on Elon Musk’s X-Twitter with his widely viewed show Tucker on X, and has more recently launched the Tucker Carlson Network.
One of Carlson’s main talking points is the Great Replacement Theory, that of the “Browning of America” with the influx of Mass Migration. The United States, like Canada, was essentially founded as a White country on a Brown Continent. The original replacement happened with Global Finance importing Settlers of primarily Anglo-Saxon and Western European backgrounds, by and large replacing the original Northern Indigenous population. Today many Latino migrants — who likewise are of primarily Indigenous descent to the Americas — are coming from South and Central America to the United States following the flow of Capital to the Metropoles. This phenomenon of mass migration is due to US economic Imperialism in the American hemisphere, much like many South Asians who come to Canada or Britain as part of the “Commonwealth.”
One of the contributing factors to Tucker Carlson being let go from Fox News was his spat with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an influential Jewish American and Progressive Liberal organization, over border policies in the US. It is an undisputed fact that the two main groups who founded the United States were the landed WASP Establishment (White Anglos-Saxon Protestants) and also some very wealthy Jews. These were the two groups that comprised the original definition of “White” in America, although more recently American Jews have sought to distance themselves from “Whiteness.” We have seen representatives from these foundational power groups clash over what the vision of the United States should be going forward with one calling “Anti-Semitism” and the other calling “Anti-White.” Carlson is more of a Paleo-Conservative and White Nationalist who is critical of the Post-1965 American political consensus of allowing Non-White immigration into America. He has also spoken more broadly about the decline of the Western World as it pertains to Europeans and Euro-Americans. The ADL has criticized Carlson for having Ethno-Nationalist and Xenophobic positions, however, Carlson fired back on their hypocrisy because the ADL inversely supports the same policies for Israel. The argument made here is that Jews living in the West would prefer a Multi-Cultural society without a White super-majority and are thus supportive of Liberal Mass Immigration policies, compared to their views on Israel where they want Jews to be the super-majority and limit the Arab population. This spat between Carlson and the ADL — similar to the recent one with Elon Musk who for a time flirted with Pro-White Identarians, hosting them on his social media platform before his trip to Israel to make amends — is enigmatic of how in recent times how elements of the Establishment based can be at odds within itself in the West.
Carlson’s address to Canadians took square aim at Justin Trudeau and his Cabinet of Progressive Liberals who have been in government since 2015. His speech was focused mostly on Canadians with a Right-Wing political orientation and an Anglo ethnic background. Carlson did openly break with one tenant of Anglo culture where he cited the inclination towards politeness as holding back Citizens admitting when things are going badly in Canada. He spoke about a myriad of real issues that have worsened in 2015 such as the widespread phenomena of fentanyl use, distribution, and supply; medically assisted dying (MAID) or assisted suicide being prescribed to people with depression; and Transgender/Post-Gender ideology being mandatory education at public schools. All of these are real issues in Canada, being externalities of the ills of late-stage Capitalism, but like the MAGA Movement as a whole, Carlson’s speech was more an airing of grievances than offering real solutions.
There is tendency with much of the Canadian Right-Wing he tapped into in fixating on Justin Trudeau as an individual politician “this is all him, he wanted to do this” being a poster child of the system, without giving a comprehensive analysis of the Dominion system itself, orchestrated from Bay Street. Carlson stated a bunch of obvious issues, then gave a pat on the shoulder saying “I love you guys in Canada,” and left with that alone was the extent of his presentation. While encouraging words can be comforting, it’s the People here who will move the dial for our politics, not MAGA pundits from the United States. It would be the equivalent of us going to South Korea saying “You have the world’s highest suicide rates, negative birth rates, and widespread alcoholism in your working population” and then turning around saying “But we love you guys, good luck with that!” It’s not helpful for a foreigner to come in with that message as it does nothing to address a country’s root causes of the issues.
While solidarity with other countries dealing with their issues is important, Carlson is quite selective here, making more of a White Nationalist appeal to Canada than a true Internationalism across the Americas. Carlson did demonstrate a genuine affection for his Anglo-Canadian kinfolk, citing his connection to the country with the root of his family that sided with the Loyalists during 1776, going to Nova Scotia after the American Revolution, with his great-grandfather later moving to the United States. While Carlson was addressing primarily Anglo-Canadian audiences who are affected by many if not all of the ills above, his characterization of the Depopulation Agenda being a solely “White issue” is completely false. This is something happening worldwide and being pushed by Global Finance. It’s not that this does not affect White people, but limiting the analysis to just Euro-Americans and Europeans as many White Nationalists do, inhibits understanding of how this affects all of humankind and looking at where it was first implemented to understand where it’s going.
Even within the context of the United States, when it comes to the Depopulation Agenda, in US Hospitals experimental procedures leading to infertility were first tried on the Colonized peoples, for example, the sterilization of 1/3 of Boricua women between the 1930s-70s in Puerto Rico. Similar happenings occurred to Black and Indigenous women within the US Logo map. Likewise, the genocidal flooding of Opioids to communities, something we now see happening in many rural and deindustrialized areas that are predominantly White, was pioneered in the latter 20th Century with the Crack epidemic being pushed onto Black and Brown communities — the same people Carlson’s political persuasion have vilified for decades and advocated prison as a response to addiction. Even further back, this strategy was used the Anglo-American Imperialists against China during the Opium Wars of the 19th Century. As well, we can also look at current US Neo-Colonies in East Asia such as Japan and South Korea that have negative birthrates due to Hyper-Capitalism and likewise struggle from a young population burdened with pervasive Pornography and addictive video games, something now present in the United States.
These are a handful of examples among many on top of the overall strategy of Degrowth and underdevelopment put upon the Global South by Global Finance. Carlson’s analysis lacks empathy for those who were first affected by these kinds of ongoing Depopulation policies, cases which many downwardly mobile Anglo-Canadians can learn from in understanding what is going on today. Instead of focusing on building solidarity across genuine Internationalist and community lines, Carlson hones in on a toxic narrative of “the World is out to get the West.”
At the end of the day, Carlson’s stint in Canada was primarily about promoting his own career and milking an audience up North. Carlson’s goal is for Canadians to watch him on his upcoming self-titled network, after this live talk they can hear him continue to talk about a number of Canadian issues and issues in Western countries without positing real solutions for the masses. That’s why at Riel Republicans we strive to get to the root of the issues in the Dominion. We understand all of these aforementioned externalities, including the predatory nature of Liberal Mass Immigration policies taking advantage of newcomers, is brought about by the Capitalist system with Canada since 1867 being a Dominion of Global Finance.
Lastly, the choice of venue for Carlson’s speech and the Premier of Alberta being the guest of honour was telling of what the event embodied: a feeling of abandonment in Western Canada. With Carlson present, as a spokesperson for the MAGA Movement, the WEXIT sentiments took on a form of entertaining the idea of Alberta becoming the 51st American State, as well. However this is redundant as with the Dominion of Canada being a subset a part of Anglo-American Empire, Alberta already has its oil effectively owned by US firms. Either way whether to Bay Street as its Northern Outpost, or the Trans-Atlantic Axis of Wall Street and the City of London as a whole, the Dominion of Canada is a backwater vassal state without Popular Sovereignty. This is why we must break from the Atlanticism of Global Finance and develop our own sense of Continentalism with control over our own resources. need the New Republic in the spirit of the Honourable Louis Riel and the original resistance state of Manitoba!
Onwards to a Northern Continentalism!
